Choosing health insurance plans

This evening I read an article about how to pick different types of health insurance plans based on your own unique situation. First of all, I would like to start off by saying that this was a well written and put together article. It was very informative to me. I pick this article to review do to my own situation. My son and I have both been without health insurance for the past three years now. I never took it out through my job,because I would be required to take a pay cut to get it and also the amount was way too high.

I have been taking out private health insurance plans and paying for them out of pocket for a few years now, but the price gets higher for me every year. The article starts off by discussing how you should choose your insurance and what you should do if you are in a relationship. They suggest that you way your own situation and most importantly do the math and see which way is the least expensive to you. The article speaks about the fact that you do not necessarily need to take out a family plan in every instance. Some circumstances may actually work out better if either you both take out separate plans or let one drop theirs and go onto the others in a secondary insurance plan provided that this is available in their insurance plan.
